Four congenic lines (B10.A, B10.A(2R), B10.A(5R) and B10.F) were used (1) to relate unique alterations of lymphocyte subpopulations with lifespan and (2) to show an association between the H-2 complex and the ageing process. Since B10.F and B10 differ by only a restricted region of the H-2 complex, it was possible to suggest that there was an association between early death and the presence of the H-2n allele.
