The value of computed tomography (CT) as a tool in the diagnosis of gallbladder, pancreas and liver diseases is considered. The incidence of false positive or false negative interpretation was 5-10% in early studies. Technical improvements and experience should improve this percentage. The priority of CT scanning in evaluating biliary, hepatic and pancreatic diseases remains to be determined.
