The most commonly used methods for the treatment of amblyopia are based on dosed obstruction of the eye with the better function. Occlusion therapy is still the treatment of choice for severe (eccentric fixation) amblyopias. A possible impairment of the binocular neurones must be accepted in doubtful cases with the objects of a possible normalization of monocular function (visual acuity).
