Serotypes 6 and 17 of mycobacteria belonging to the avium-intracellulare-scrofulaceum group were isolated from two monkeys in the zoological park at Sao Paulo, Brazil. The animals died as a consequence of the infection. The origin of the disease could not be traced in either case.
