Excision of a section of the fallopian tube, followed by histological verification, is advocated as the surest form of laparoscopic tubal sterilization. In the author's own experience with approximately 750 operations, there were no failures, and minilaparotomy was necessary only 2 times. Excision of a section of the tube offers no technical difficulties and does not increase surgical risk.
