Brunckita es un súlfuro de zinc pulverulento y masivo, probablemente de origen coloidal. En los rayos × revela una estructura atómica igual a la de esfalerita. En este artículo se resume toda la información relativa a este mineral, especialmente sus propiedades físicas y químicas. La brunckita se estudió por primera vez en especímenes provenientes de las minas de Cercapuquio, único lugar en el mundo donde se le explota comercialmente. Por este motivo el autor califica a la brunckita como mineral peruano.
