Total 50% ethanolic and benzene extracts of leaves of A. odoratissimus were antiestrogenic at every dose, and 75 and 150 mg/kg doses of 50% ethanolic extract and 300 mg/kg dose of benzene extract were more potent in reducing the estrone induced uterine weight change in bilaterally ovariectomized immature rats. The activity was dose dependent. Ethanolic extract (50%) elicited significant activity at low doses while benzene extract required a higher dose. The administration of these extracts was quite safe.
