The prevalence of Fasciola hepatica infection in cattle at slaughterhouses in Puerto Rico increased from 7.55% in 1948-49 to 23.90% in 1973 and 31.66% in 1976. Unpublished results of faecal examinations suggest much higher infection rates in some farms.
