A technique is presented of using the urine flow obtained by transient pulses of higher pressure erected on a base line of very low perfusion pressure as a method for assessing viability in the dog kidney damaged by normothermic ischemia of 30 and 60 min and then perfusion-preserved for 48-96 h. This technique may be of value in elucidating mechanisms of damage and possible repair during preservation.
