Adenoid cystic carcinoma of the cervix. A report of 7 cases

Adenoid cystic carcinoma, and extremely rare tumor of the cervix, was reported in 7 cases during the last 15 yr. All patients were multiparous and nearing menopause. More than 1 histological pattern was seen in a single case. Perinueral and lymphatic infiltration was a constant feature. Histochemistry indicates the genesis of a central, hyaline mass from connective tissue stroma and not tumor cells. Survival rate has no direct relation with histological type. The tumor arises from reserve cells of the endocervix.
