The Williams Syndrome is a sporadic disorder characterized by craniofacial abnormalities, prenatal and postnatal growth deficiency, mental retardation, variable congenital heart disease and, occasionally, infantile hypercalcemia. An unusually outgoing personality, mental deficiency with poor motor coordination and an unusual command of language characterizes the behavior of children with this syndrome. A characteristic pattern of cognitive development and personality structure emerged in these children when administered the McCarthy Scales of Children's Abilities.
