The results of a multicentric controlled therapeutic trial of high doses of aprotinin, an inhibitor of proteases, and glucagon in 58 patients with acute pancreatitis, are reported. There was no significant difference in the mortality rate and in the prevalence of complications between the patients receiving aprotinin and/or glucagon and the patients receiving placebo. High doses of aprotinin and/or glucagon are not beneficial to the patients suffering from acute pancreatitis. This conclusion is in agreement with those of similar studies in France, German, England and Scotland.
