Splenic abscess is a rare condition and remains a diagnostic challenge. Many different organisms can cause splenic abscess.1 The most commonly encountered organisms are staphylococcus, streptococcus and gram negative bacilli. Other less common organisms include anaerobic organisms, serratia marcences and salmonella. Tuberculosis of the spleen is even rarer with only two reported cases in recent literature.2,3 We report a case of tuberculous splenic abscess and discuss aspects of management. The literature on tuberculous splenic abscess is reviewed.
