A young child, returned from Cameroon, was admitted to hospital on 19th Sept. 1977 for intense infection with Plasmodium falciparum. On Oct. 1st a nurse who had been in charge of this child went down with a similar infection (which was cured with chloroquine). Apparently during collection of blood from the child, some blood had contaminated abrasions on her fingers.
