A 10-week-old long-haired kitten was presented with inappetence, lethargy and occasional vomiting of yellow, watery fluid. Two nodular skin lesions about 0.5 cm in diameter were found, one on the head, the other at the base of the tail. Each was ulcerated and had a thin, well-defined border. Two further lesions appeared on the head after another two days. Symptomatic treatment was initiated. Seven days after onset the cat was euthanized owing to deterioration with stentorious breathing. Skin lesions yielded typical pox virus which was identified as cowpox.
