Enzymatically (by peroxidase-oxidase) generated triplet acetone transfers its energy to the ground state phytochrome and promotes to some extent, in the dark, the conversion of Pr (Phytochrome in the red absorbing form) into Pfr (Phytochrome in the far-red absorbing form) and Pfr into Pr. This is the first report of inverse dark reversion in vitro.
