Clinical and neurophysiological results were presented of studies on 91 cases of glue-induced polyneuropathy. The patients were kept under observation from 6 mo. to 3 yr in order to emphasize the severity of and the incomplete recovery from this polyneuropathy. A clear-cut sensorimotor polyneuropathy could be observed in 1/5 of the patients even after 3 yr from the onset of the disease. The neurophysiological and clinical findings suggested a possible spinal involvement in 9 patients. A strict correlation was found between the severity of the disease process and the working conditions, production requirements and age of the workers. An epidemiological study of all workers in the Italian shoe industry was suggested.
