The case is described of an 18-year-old man from New Jersey, USA, with an enlarged lymph node 1.5 cm across behind his ear. When this was excised it was found to contain a dead filarial worm, possibly Brugia beaveri, a parasite of raccoons. There were no microfilariae in the blood.
