Tn the year 1923, the Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine was awarded to Frederick Grant Banting and John James Rickard Macleod for discovery of Insulin. This discovery is among the greatest discoveries in the history of medicine. Isletin was the first and degludec is the latest insulin to come to market. After discovery, subsequent research produced many more insulin and the process is ongoing. Here is a brief account on the history of insulin discovery and the subsequent research on insulin.
