Arsenic, selenium and antimony in urine and air. Analytical method by hydride generation and atomic absorption spectroscopy

Urine and air particulate samples are wet ashed with a mixture of nitric, perchloric and sulfuric acid to destroy the organic matrix. The analysis is subsequently made by generating the hydride in an acidic solution with sodium borohydride and measuring the evolved gas by background corrected atomic absorption spectroscopy. Principles of the method, range and sensitivity, interferences, precision and accuracy, procedure, apparatus, reagents, calculations, advantages and disadvantages of the method are discussed.
