Serum Cu levels were determined in 100 patients with Hodgkin's disease to assess the relationship between the level of serum Cu and disease activity. Elevated levels were found in active disease states whereas they were in the normal range in the inactive phase. A decrease in serum Cu level was observed as the disease activity decreased in response to therapy and an increase was observed in the case of relapse. The usefulness of serum Cu is suggested as a biochemical marker in the evaluation of the state of the disease activity and to increase the efficacy of chemotherapy.
