Information content of orthogonal ECG in the diagnosis of left ventricular hypertrophy

To determine the optimal system of orthogonal ECG registration, a comparative study was made between the system of 12 points of contact of the ECG and the most popular systems of orthogonal ECG in the diagnosis of the left ventricular hypertrophy. The orthogonal method proved more informative in determination of left ventricular hypertrophy in human patients with arterial hypertension. The most informative criteria, particularly in the early stages of arterial hypertension, were changes in Rx, Tx, Rx-Tx and Sz. Changes of the repolarization phase (T wave) indicate the most expressed indices of hypertrophy. The McFee-Parungao and Beswick-Jordan orthogonal systems revealed hypertrophy more often than the Frank system.
