A man who developed a rare long-existing dissecting aneurysm of the peritoneal section of the aorta, secondary congenital polycystosis of the kidneys and severe renal hypertension was described. The aneurysm, undiagnosed before his death from cerebral hemorrhage, apparently developed over the course of several months, providing a compensatory blood-flow bypass to the left common ileal artery because of severe atherosclerotic changes in the main branch. Arterial pressure was higher than 300/140 before the fatal hemorrhage.
