After nose trauma in 1974, a bluish-violet patch appeared which persisted until the patient was hospitalized in 1976 at age 86. The nose was swollen apparently due to inflammation. The lesions abruptly collapsed and bled for several days, followed by the reappearance of the swelling. Histologically 2 types of lesion were observed: voluminous vascular cavities covered with endothelium, and cellular infiltrate containing mainly lymphocytes. The patient was given 300 rad of irradiation for 15 days, causing the regression of symptoms and eventual healing. The literature on the occurrence of lymphangiomas in various age groups and on other forms of treatment, e.g., surgery, was reviewed.
