Patients of the Jehovah's Witness faith believe that infusion of blood or blood products transgresses the laws of God. A series of pediatric patients of this faith treated for cancer and related hematologic diseases are discussed and the current medical, legal and ethical context in which management must be judged is presented. The final decision to abide by or attempt to override a patient's wishes must rest with the physician, who alone can perceive the unique needs and sensitivities of the patient.
