Keasbey's aponeurotic fibromatosis

An unusual case of skin disease was observed in a 46 yr old woman. The history of the lesion proceeded in 2 stages, beginning at age 12. At this time, after the patient sustained a lesion on the 3rd right toe, she discovered a fibrous nodule on a distal phalanx which gradually spread to the entire toe. At age 30, following an injury with a sickle, progressive nodules appeared on the dorsal face of the left big toe, which were removed. Each time an operation was performed, more nodules appeared. The 2nd phase of the disease developed since 1975, when other fibrous nodules appeared, away from earlier lesions. The diagnosis of cheloids was rejected because the patient never developed lesions after operations on other sites (abdomen) except the toes. Ultimately the diagnosis of Keasbey's juvenile aponeurotic fibromatosis was adopted. Nothing appears to be known about the cause and treatment of the disase.
