Effect of amino acids on the synthesis of extracellular protease in Serratia marcescens

Synthesis of extracellular protease in S. marcescens was induced by 7 amino acids: apartate, glutamate, leucine, valine, .alpha.-alanine, .beta.-phenyl-.alpha.-alanine and histidine. The highest inducing activity was manifested by leucine. Synthesis of the enzyme was repressed completely by asparagine, and partly by arginine, serine and proline.
