CO poisoning is a fairly frequent item in hospital statistics. One can suspect that many cases are not even admitted to a hospital because the symptoms are not always characteristic. Many cardiac and cerebral complaints afterwards prove to originate from this intoxication. After severe poisoning the patient frequently suffers from cerebral edema with irreversible cerebral lesions. Early intensive treatment prevents these complaints and lesions.
