Slow hypnic ocular activity enhances the paretic movements of internuclear abduction palsy (internuclear posterior ophthalmoplegia after Lutz) in man and may differentiate this condition from peripheral abduction palsies. In this kind of diagnostic problem electro-oculographic recordings during sleep appear valuable.
