A vertical electrophoretic apparatus, which regulates the temperature of the medium in which electrophoretic separation of the substrate (e.g., enzymes requiring low temperatures) occurs and its special glass electrodes are described. Lymph node and blood serum protein proteins were assayed with water or a previously refrigerated liquid as the medium. A charge of 500-600 V and a current of 10-15 mA can be used. Good separation can be achieved in a relatively short time with little loss of substrate.
