In accordance with the research on pollen grain penetration into the bronchial tree, 2 techniques of investigation were carried out: the isotope method and the bronchoscopic approach. Two problems relative to the 1st method are exposed: the nebulization and the use of 99mTc as a tracer. An apparatus was studied for nebulizing pollen grains with the following main characteristics.sbd.no turbulence at the outlet of the apparatus and a certain stability in the delivery of particles. In the use of 99mTc as a tracer, the activity of the labeled pollen grain was different from 1 grain to another, however 99mTc tagged on the exine remained stable; its diffusion rate in biological fluids (mucus and blood) was not significant. A weak radioactive bulk could be detected with the scintillation detector used to study pulmonary clearance , under simulated physiological conditions. The method of bronchoscopy samples requires cautious manipulation to avoid any pollution.
