Organisms associated with abortion and reproductive problems in cattle

Among 1810 isolations made from the vagina, fetus and fetal membranes following abortion or reproductive failures in cows, the most prevalent organisms were Streptococcus (355), Staphylococcus (322), Bacillus (346) and Corynebacterium (337). The other isolates included Escherichia coli (122), Proteus (31), Pseudomonas (21), Listeria monocytogenes (1), Aspergillus fumigatus (35), yeasts (30), Candida albicans (10), Mucor (22) and other fungi (22).
