Dermatophytic onychoses in patients from Eastern Bohemia during the past 20 years

Among 987 patients with onychomycosis examined during 1955-74 females were twice as numerous as men. The toe nails were infected almost 3 times more often than the finger nails. Trichophyton rubrum and T. mentagrophytes were the most frequent isolates from infected nails. T. rubrum predominated over T. mentagrophytes X 12 in men and X 6 in females.
