Methyloxypropylcellulose with the viscosity of a 2% aqueous solution of from 9.1-152.4 sP accelerated in vitro the process of fibrin formation in whole blood and plateletless plasma of dogs and rabbits under the effect of thrombin or CaCl and also in the isolated fibrinogen-thrombin system. It failed to depress the coagulation capacity of fibrinogen and to inhibit the activity of thrombin in the course of a 2-h incubation.
