In vitro and in vivo studies with tritium-labelled econazole 1% cream revealed that although up to 90% of the drug remained on the surface, about 20 mu g/ml epidermal tissue and 1.5 mu g/ml dermal tissue could be achieved. The amount which was excreted in the urine was equivalent to the quantity which entered the skin.
