The importance of early diagnosis of interventicular septum rupture and acute mitral incompetence in the course of myocardial infarction was reported. An accurate bedside diagnosis was obtained by right heart catheterization with floating catheters. Two cases of interventricular septum rupture and 1 case of mitral incompetence due to acute myocardial infarction were reviewed. Right heart microcatheterization was performed, using Grandjean's method. The pathophysiological data obtained, such as intracardiac pressures, cardial output shunts and oxymetry, confirm those obtained with non-invasive methods.
