A case of a premature infant with traumatic loss of the left arm and shoulder is reported. This trauma was caused by an ineffective interruption of pregnancy. This case shows that the success of a therapeutic abortion has to be macroscopically and histologically controlled. Otherwise, even if pregnancy continues normally after an unsuccessful abortion, birth defects have to be expected.
