The effect of active and passive immunization against angiotensin on the norepinephrine concentration in the CNS of the rat was studied. The norepinephrine content in the hypothalamus increased in the active and passive immunized animals. However, no differences were observed in the medulla oblongata. The metabolism of catecholamines in the hypothalamus is, in some way, affected by modifications of the serum angiotensin levels. The renin-angiotensin system exerts a regulatory influence on the metabolism of catecholamines in CNS certain areas.
