The experiments were performed on nondescript albino mice. Group I (48 animals) was the control. Thyrogenic nanism (group II) was induced by a single s.c. injection of 131I in a dose of 8 .mu.Ci/per animal to mice at the age of 1-3 days. Somatogenic nanism (group III) was evoked by reduction of natural feeding from the age of 4 days. The animals of groups II and III lagged noticeably behind in growth and weight. In group II by age 1 mo. the body length was 84%, weight 75% as compared to the healthy mice. In group III these indexes were 80% and 62%, respectively, as compared to the control. Simultaneously with inhibition in physical development, the both groups under experiment were characterized by a decrease in the content of glycogen in the liver and skeletal muscles: with thyrogenic nanism it was 2 and 4 times as low as in the intact mice, respectively, and with somatogenic nanism it was 2.2 and 3.5 times as low.
