Angle closure glaucoma in a patient with pseudoexfoliation of the lens capsule

Glaucoma with gonioscopically open angles is found in a variable number of patients with capsular pseudoexfoliation. A patient was described who presented with bilateral pseudoexfoliation and unilateral acute angle closure glaucoma. Previously the association of these 2 clinical entities was though to be coincidental. Certain characteristics of the present case suggested that pseudoexfoliation may occasionally be causally related to acute angle closure, possibly through the production of a pupillary block phenomenon.
