Prospects for the growth of research in the field of cardiovascular diseases

Research concerning the mechanisms of regulation of general and regional blood circulation, physiology and pathology of microcirculation; mechanisms of adaptation and compensation in the cardiovascular system; mechanisms of myocardial metabolism regulation; creation of immobilized biologically active substance preparations for use in cardiology; study of all aspects of atherosclerosis; ischemic heart disease and myocardial infarction; the mechanisms of sudden death; development and implementation of mathematical methods of research and computer technology in cardiology; surgical treatment of heart and vascular diseases; development of methods of diagnosis and surgical treatment of congenital heart defects in newborns and infants was discussed. Besides these basic directions, research should deal with study of the cardiovascular system of the cellular and molecular level; its biophysics; electrophysiology and metabolism of the heart, causes and mechanisms of thrombosis development; risk factors in heart disease and genetic aspects; search for new drugs and rehabilitation of cardiovascular patients.
