Comparative allergologic studies in treated antihypertensive patients with vasomotor rhinitis

In order to solve the problem, whether in anti-hypertensively treated patients with the symptom of the obstructed nose allergologic mechanisms play a role, comparisons with the transformation test of lymphocytes, the serologico-nephelometric two-step method after Hoigné and the mast cell degranulation test in rats were carried out. The proof of the sensitisation to the applied medicament by the transformation test of the lymphocytes was successful in all 7 patients who complained about the symptom mentioned. These findings were supported by the positive results in 5 patients, which we achieved by means of the other two methods. By comparison with the treated and untreated control patients the question of the clinically relevant connection between sensitisation and symptomatology was discussed.
