Fat embolism in kwashiorkor

The only case in the authors' experience is described, of fat emboli in hepatic veins, right atrium and ventricle of heart and many branches of the pulmonary artery, from the grossly fatty liver of an African child aged 11 months with kwashiorkor, examined at autopsy. There was no fat embolism in lung sections of 40 children with severe kwashiorkor.
